Introducing the 2014 UCMB Feature Twirlers

The University of Connecticut Marching Band, Director Dr. David Mills, and Assistant Director Marvin McNeill are excited to announce the newest Feature Twirlers to join the UCMB family! Heather Goodwin and Gabriella Medvick have been selected to be part of the 2014 “Pride of Connecticut!” They were chosen through an audition process with the help of former UCMB twirlers Marisa Merliss and Alyssa McLaughlin.

Heather Goodwin

Heather Goodwin is an actuarial science major and will be a junior at UConn this fall. Heather began twirling when she was 4 years old and has been competing and performing ever since. As a member of the Elite Twirlers of Easton, MA, her baton twirling accomplishments include being the Feature Twirler for Coyle & Cassidy High School in Taunton, MA, performing for the Boston Celtics Pre-game Show, and receiving the talent award at Miss Taunton 2012. Performing at charity events sponsored by local schools and the Brockton Rotary Club are the most fulfilling twirling experiences for Heather. She has also competed at the NBTA National Baton Twirling Competition, Twirling United International Championships and AAU Junior Olympics.

Gabriella MedvickGabriella Medvick is from Richfield, Ohio where she has twirled with the Revere High School Marching Band for the past 4 years.  She’s been a competitive baton twirler since age 7, winning state, regional, and national titles with USTA. This year she had the wonderful opportunity to perform in the Fiesta Bowl Parade with her high school marching band. Gabriella is very excited to be a freshman at UCONN this fall and continue her twirling career with the UCMB.

Heather and Gabriella join a long line and rich history of talented twirlers at UConn. We would like to express the most sincere gratitude for our graduating twirlers, Holly Blanchard and Katie McClain! Their talent and commitment to the program has helped continue the tradition of excellence in the UCMB. We wish the new Feature Twirlers the best of luck and look forward to their first performance with the UCMB as the Huskies take on BYU on Friday, August 29th at Rentschler Field!
