Ending a chapter of UCMB history, 2002 was the final season for the UCMB to perform at Memorial Field. The band closed this chapter on a high note with a Latin inspired show entitled “Spanish Fire”.

My favorite memory, BY FAR, was my final year in the band when we performed Malaguena. For years it had been my favorite Marching Band song… and to be given the opportunity to perform it with the talent that we had in the band that year was an experience that is hard to put into words. I knew that my active marching band life as a player would probably come to an end after my time in the UCMB. So, to play THAT song… with THAT band… I was fortunate enough to have a solo in the final measures of the song… to a standing ovation, at the FINAL performance at Memorial Stadium before moving to the RENT in 2002… Yeah… I’d say that’s a heck of a way to end a marching band career.
