Tyler’s marching percussion experience began in 2009 when he co-founded an indoor drumline at Woodstock Academy during his senior year. He began marching in the UCMB in 2009, where he was a member of the tenor line his first year. He then marched snare from 2010-2013, serving as snare section leader for two years. In the summer of 2012, Tyler marched snare with the 7th Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps.
Tyler is a University of Connecticut alum with a B.A. in Music (Percussion) and a B.S. in Management Information Systems. He was a member and music director of the University’s premier a cappella group, The Conn-Men, as well as a member of the national band fraternity Kappa Kappa Psi. Tyler currently teaches percussion at Thames Valley Music School, Newtown High School, and The Woodstock Academy. He recently taught 7th Regiment for their 2018 season, as well as WGI Medalist Trumbull High School for a year and a half, working with both their battery and front ensemble. An active performer, he has played for productions at the Connecticut Repertory Theater, Castle Craig Players, the Side Door Jazz Club, with the Chelsea Symphony in Manhattan and numerous local venues in CT, NYC and Boston. He returned to UConn as a staff member for the 2014 season and continues to coordinate and instruct music and visual design for the battery.
