New England Collegiate Marching Band Festival

Jason Reider

The UConn Marching Band will travel to Worcester, Massachussetts to join 9 other college bands for the inaugural New England Collegiate Marching Band Festival on Sunday, October 5th. The show will take place at Fitton Field on the College of the Holy Cross campus.

Gates will open to the public at 11 a.m., and the National Anthem will begin the event at noon. Each group will be given twenty minutes to perform their field production.

The UCMB will be performing twice at the show to fill in for a band that had to back out due to expensive travel costs. The band will perform two different shows, “World Cup Celebration” at 12:30 p.m. and the 2014 field production “Celebrate” at 4:00 p.m.

As this is the first of hopefully many years this event will run, the goal is to make everything as successful as possible. With this in mind,¬†admission to this year’s festival will be free.¬†In addition, all profits raised from sale of concessions, 50/50 raffles, program books, t-shits, and donation bins will be split with each participating band, allowing for both 30-member and 300-member ensembles to attend with ease.

The performing bands include include:

  • College of the Holy Cross
  • Central Connecticut State University
  • Sacred Heart University
  • University of Massachusetts Lowell
  • Marist College
  • University of New Hampshire
  • Boston University
  • University of New Haven
  • Boston College
  • University of Connecticut

The UCMB hopes to see many UConn fans and alumni at the show! For more information, contests, and prize giveaways, RSVP to the official Facebook event.
